Obituary

Cinda "Cindy" L. Jordan, 70, of Moweaqua, passed away December 22, 2023 in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2023 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua.  Visitation will be from 10:00 – 12:00, prior to service time.  Burial will be in Bilyeu Cemetery, Moweaqua.  Memorials may be made to Moweaqua Junior Golf Clinic.

Cindy was born on January 7, 1953 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of John E. and Rosalie (Davis) Ashley.  She married Warren Jordan on June 15, 1974.  They later divorced.

Surviving are her brothers: Tom (Nancy) Ashley of Lincoln, IL and John Marty Ashley of Port Charlotte, FL; niece, Tara (Bryan ) Schmeiser of Carmel, IN; nephews: James (Lindsay) Ashley of Assumption, IL and JT (Chelsea) Ashley of Lincoln, IL; great-nephews: Cale and Luke Schmeiser of Carmel, IN, Logan and Emmett Ashley of Assumption, IL and Brooks Ashley of Lincoln, IL; and great-niece, Rowan Ashley of Lincoln, IL.

Cindy was a 1971 graduate of Moweaqua High School.  She worked for the Moweaqua Golf Course and the Central A&M Schools, in the cafeteria.

Cindy loved the Moweaqua community and supported many businesses and school activities.  She was an active member of the former Moweaqua Lions Club for many years, helped with the Moweaqua Pow Wow, served on the Moweaqua Zoning and City Boards, and formerly served as a Village Trustee. Cindy was passionate about the annual Junior Golf Clinic for kids.  She organized the event and loved to see the kids improve skills for their golf game, build sportsmanship and enjoy camaraderie.  Cindy also organized the Women's Pumpkin Open and was an avid supporter of creating a golf team through Central A&M High School.

Cindy volunteered with the local nursing home and was a school crossing guard.  She enjoyed conversing with her friends at the Crazy Ladies Cafe, with daily breakfast and lunch visits and activities such as shooting at the farm, golfing, especially her golf league participation, and animals and horses.  Cindy loved her dog, Clancy, who she could be seen with around town enjoying golf cart rides.

Cindy was a big supporter of her great-nephews, Logan and Emmett, through their local activities, golf endeavors and achievements.  She enjoyed time with her great-nephews and niece; Cale, Luke, Brooks and Rowan as well.

Preceding her in death are an infant daughter, parents and grandparents.

Cindy will be missed by family, friends and her hometown community.
