Brenda K. Poppenhouse, 72, of Assumption, IL, died July 3, 2025, in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time.  Memorials may be made to The Family of Brenda Poppenhouse.

Brenda was born on September 27, 1952 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of George and Sarah (Copeland) White.  She married Gerald C. Poppenhouse on July 4, 1974 in Hillsboro, IL.  He preceded her in death on November 30, 1996.

Brenda was a lifelong member of Assumption Christian Church, where she was deeply involved throughout the years—participating in Vacation Bible School, youth group, and faithfully attending services.  Over the years she worked multiple jobs as a cook and took care of many people in their homes.  Most of all, Brenda loved and was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her son, Gerald "Chet" (Bridgett) Poppenhouse II of Assumption, IL; grandchildren: Jordan (Allison). Katelyn (Maddy), Larissa, Delainy, and Hunter; great-grandchildren: Jamarion, JayTee, Terail, Dontae, JT, and Shawn-Tae; brothers: George (Flo) White of Pana, IL and Wiliam White of Vandalia, IL; sisters: Sandra (James) Pritts of Shelbyville, IL, Patti (Fred) Talbot of Cincinnati, OH, Polly (Rich) Galvin of Pana, IL, Stacy (Ron) Hyder of Cisne, IL, and Melody (Rick) Brown of Mulberry Grove, IL.

Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, and brother, Malcolm Buford White.
