Billy G. Pinkston, 81, of Assumption, died June 24, 2024 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

Graveside services, with full military rites, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.

Billy was born on November 18, 1942 in Moweaqua, IL, the son of Lawrence and Aileen (Jordan) Pinkston.  He married Sue Burton on November 21, 1965 in Assumption, IL.  She survives.

Billy was a member of Assumption Christian Church and National Shoot to Retrieve Association.  He served in the United States Air Force and worked for Caterpillar, retiring in 1999.  Billy was an avid upland hunter and enjoyed working with bird dogs and livestock.

Surviving is his wife, Sue; sons: Rodney (Jo Ann) Pinkston of Cataula, GA and Billy (Dawn) Pinkston of Decatur, IL; granddaughters: Breanna Kessel and Briley Pinkston; and great-grandson, Beckham Gerhardt.

Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Brian; daughter, Pam; brothers: John, Blaine, and Tom Pinkston; and sisters: Shirley Scott and Connie Caulk.
