DATELINE: ASSUMPTION

Bill G. Williams, 83, of Assumption passed away November 15, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 in Assumption Christian Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m. in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption with Full Military Rites by the Assumption Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Assumption VFW.

Bill was born November 14, 1932 in Bethany, MO, the son of Bill and Verna (Mayfield) Williams. He married Marian E. Cooper May 6, 1955 in Kansas City, MO. She preceded him in death June 30, 2008.

Bill was a member of Assumption Christian Church, and the American Legion Post #105. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. Bill and Marian moved their family to Illinois in 1965 where he managed Trulock Farm Supply and he ended his agriculture career at GSI in 2008. Bill was an active supporter of the Assumption School District, and an avid fan of Central A&M. Generations of local children have memories of time spent at the Williams' pool. He was a dedicated, lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and he passed his love for baseball on to his entire family. Bill loved his family dearly, and spoke of them to everyone he met. He especially enjoyed making memories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill was a man of faith who believed in providing his children and grandchildren with an example of charity, strength, dedication and love.

Surviving are his sons: Michael (Sandra) Williams and Patrick (Kathy) Williams, all of Assumption; daughters: Donna (Bob) Newcome of Bethany, IL and Lori (Bob) Hearring of Elwin, IL; grandchildren: Blake (Laura) Williams, Courtney (Brian) Hiler, Brianna (Quinn) Morrow, Ashley (Brigham) Hagerman, Brett (Maureen) Williams, Chelbi Williams (Sheldon Alt), Haley (Jamey) Cabit, and Jordan Stoune; 13 great-grandchildren: Matthew Williams, Kai Morrow, Koi Morrow, Eden Hagerman, Brayden Williams, Ryan Williams, Kael Morrow, Elise Hagerman, Wyatt Williams, Mackenzie Williams, Teagan Williams, George Hiler and Jayden Cabit; sisters: Janet Sue Hendren, Sandra Kay Poire and Linda Lou (Bob) Stumfoll, all of Independence, MO; and his special friend, Marsha Schierbeck.

Preceding him in death are his wife, parents, brother Bob, two sisters Norma and Glora Lee and granddaughter, Casey Williams.

The family would like to thank the DMH Cardiac Vascular Unit and Respiratory Department for their care and kindness toward Bill and his family.
