Betty L. Ekiss, 95, of Moweaqua, went to eternal life with Jesus, March 14, 2024 in Eastern Star Home, Macon, IL.
A Celebration of life and private graveside services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Long Grove Cemetery, Macon, IL. Memorials may be made to Eastern Star Home or Moweaqua Public Library.
Betty was born on March 11, 1929 in Harristown, IL, the daughter of Willis F. and Dorinda "Grace" (Bramel) Hartwig. She married Kenneth L. Ekiss on April 24, 1949 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1999.
Betty was formerly a member of Sanner Chapel United Methodist Church of rural Moweaqua and a wonderful farm wife. She was a former volunteer at Gregory Elementary School, where she was affectionately known as "Grandma Betty". Betty was widely known for her famous iced sugar cookies with sprinkles.
Surviving are her daughters: Gwendolyn (Richard) Steele of Dalton City, IL, Marilyn (Carey) Adamson of Chapin, SC, and Kathy (Rusty) Donoho of Moweaqua, IL; grandchildren: Chris (Nikki) Cutler, Chad Cutler, Micah (Jamie) Steele, Joel (Stephani) Steele, Hannah Steele, Ashley (Chad) Bills, Drew (Jennifer) Adamson, Grant (Alex) Donoho and Austin (Hannah) Donoho; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Kenneth; parents; daughter, Connie Cutler; son-in-law, Larry Cutler; granddaughter-in-law, Lisa Cutler; and sisters, Fran and Jean.
The family would like to say "thank you" to all the staff at Eastern Star Home for all their wonderful care.
