A year and a half after the loss of her beloved husband P. J., Betty Jean Cearlock, 93, has joined P. J. Betty passed away at Englewood Community Hospital, Englewood, FL, March 29, 2017. She was born on February 23, 1924, in Moweaqua, Illinois, the daughter of Pearl Standley Howard and Charles Ladd Howard.
Betty and her late beloved husband Paul (P. J.) lived most of their lives in Moweaqua, but after retirement moved to Englewood where they spent many years. The last year and a half she has lived at Grand Villas.
Betty attended church regularly throughout her life. At the Moweaqua Methodist Church, where both she and P.J. were active members, she led youth groups, sang in the choir (She loved music.) and contributed to the church community in many other ways. She worked nearly her whole life and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in Decatur, IL, after nearly 30 years of service. Her main hobbies were cooking and reading.
Betty is survived by her son, Paul James (Jim) Cearlock (Joann) of Fraser, MI and daughter Loreta (Lu) Adamson (Alan) of Englewood; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma (Tokie) Myers of Englewood.
Services will be held at a later date.
