Alice Ann Hunter, 71, of Moweaqua died October 24, 2014 in Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014 in First United Methodist Church of Moweaqua.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 in First United Methodist Church of Moweaqua.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Moweaqua.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Choir Fund or Carle Guest House, Urbana.
Alice Ann was born April 29, 1943 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Thomas and Gertrude (Adams) Hemer. She was a graduate of Moweaqua High School, class of 1961, and Browns Business College. She married Robert G. Hunter in Moweaqua, November 16, 1963. He survives.
Alice Ann was involved in many civic and social organizations. She was a member of the Moweaqua Saddle Club, Shelby Home Extension, Shelmaco Club, and served several years as an officer in these organizations. She served on the Moweaqua Ambulance Board and served for years as Shelby County election judge. When the girls were young, she spent hours in the classrooms, brownie/girl scouts and with 4-H clubs involved with their activities. However, her true passion was serving God. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, active member of the United Methodist Women, Church Choir and enjoyed playing chimes. She was always involved in vacation Bible School, and the organization/preparation of bereavement dinners.
She enjoyed being an active partner on the farm, playing cards, cooking, sewing and anything that involved her grandchildren. She will truly be missed by all.
Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Robert G. Hunter; daughters: Elizabeth LuAnn (Curt) Thurman of Champaign, SuEllen H. Mackey of Moweaqua and Amy (Ryan) Rademaker of Rantoul; grandchildren: John Robert Mackey, Robert John Thurman, Jackson Thomas Thurman, Grant Alexander Thurman, Kathryn Elizabeth Thurman, Hunter William Rademaker and Emily Reann Rademaker; and sister Louise Junig of Beloit, WI.
Preceding her in death are her parents and brother-in-law Robert Junig.
Thank you to all that stopped to visit, sent cards and said prayers these last few months. A special thanks to the caregivers at Imboden Creek Living Center.
